Common structural steel

Common structural steel is steel that meets specific strength and formability grades. Formability is expressed as elongation at break after tensile test. Structural steel is generally used for bearing and other purposes, in which the strength of steel is an important design standard.
Common structural steel can be smelted by an oxygen converter, an open oven or an electric furnace, and is generally hot rolled into steel plates, steel belts, profiles and rods. Common structural steel is generally delivered in hot rolling (including controlled rolling) or normalizing.
