Hastelloy C-2000 (N06200, 2.4675) Overview of Hastelloy alloy:
Hastelloy C-2000 (N06200, 2.4675) is a nickel-based superalloy composed of nickel, molybdenum, chromium and other elements, with nickel content of about 55%.
Hastelloy C-2000, as an optimized alloy developed to expand the application range of materials, began with a conceptual idea of adding copper to the well-established Ni-Cr-Mo alloy. Since it entered the market at the end of 1995, it has been continuously recognized by the market, which is due to its inherent versatility. The technological innovation not only improves the resistance of alloy to water corrosion, but also expands the overall application range of Ni-Cr-Mo family alloy. This new material is designed to resist more corrosive chemicals, including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid. Unlike the previously optimized Ni-Cr-Mo alloy, which can only resist oxidizing or reducing acid, C-2000 Hastelloy has corrosion resistance in both environments. The combined action of molybdenum and copper (at the level of 16% and 1.6% respectively) makes the alloy have excellent resistance to the corrosion of reducing medium, and the high chromium content (23% wt) ensures the resistance to the corrosion of oxidizing medium.
From the perspective of engineering, C-2000 Hastelloy has provided great potential to improve production. When used in the original Ni-Cr-Mo alloy, its enhanced corrosion resistance can obtain longer equipment life under the same material thickness and higher safety factor under worse conditions. The improvement of corrosion resistance in all aspects enables the equipment to be used for multiple purposes (reactors, heat exchangers, valves, pumps, etc.), so as to receive greater return on investment. For example, a reactor can adapt to another working condition of hydrochloric acid mixture, and then convert to nitric acid-based mixture. Because of its various abilities, C-2000 Hastelloy is the best nickel-based alloy material that can adapt to various processes. C-2000 alloy expands the application range of Ni-Cr-Mo alloy in various corrosive environments, and has excellent corrosion resistance to oxidizing media and excellent resistance to reducing environment. The excellent performance of C-2000 has led to a breakthrough in the application of chemical industry equipment.
High chromium content is used to resist the corrosion of oxidizing media, such as iron ion, copper ion and dissolved oxygen. The reducing medium, such as dilute hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, requires a high content of molybdenum and tungsten. The limitation of metallurgical stability makes it impossible to optimize both. Hastelloy C-2000 alloy solves the dilemma in the design of this alloy.
The high chromium content combined with molybdenum and copper can obtain enough excellent resistance to reducing environmental corrosion without sacrificing metallurgical stability. C-2000 alloy shows better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion than C-276 alloy as an industrial standard. Its forming, welding and machining properties are similar to those of C-276. C-2000 alloy has various shapes of products: plate, sheet, forging blank, bar, wire, welding rod and pipe. Forged products are delivered after final solution heat treatment, unless customers have special needs. Hastelloy C-2000 alloy has been listed in ASME and ASTM standards B-564, B-574, B575, B619, B-622, B-366. DIN standard number is No.24675, and NiCr23Mo16Cu. The unified number of C-2000 alloy UNS is N06200, but there is more strict composition control during production to improve performance.

Hastelloy C-2000 (N06200, 2.4675) physical properties of Hastelloy alloy:
--Hastelloy C-2000 Hastelloy density: 8.5g/cm3 melting point: 1399 ℃.
--Hastelloy C-2000 Hastelloy elastic modulus: 206kN/mm2 thermal conductivity: 10.8 W/m – k.
--Hastelloy C-2000 hardness: HRC90
--Hastelloy C-2000 thermal expansion coefficient of Hastelloy alloy (25 - 100 ℃): 12.4μ m/m℃。
Hastelloy C-2000 (N06200, 2.4675) Hastelloy welding performance:
--Good safe working conditions shall be established before welding. Welders shall be properly protected, space restriction shall be avoided, and adequate ventilation shall be provided. Be sure to follow the recommendations of ANSI/ASC Z49.1-88 on welding and cutting safety.
--The welding surface and surrounding area shall be thoroughly cleaned and oil stains shall be removed before welding.
--Ni-Cr-Mo alloy has the characteristics of low penetration. It needs to have appropriate welding angle and minimum welding surface.
--The interlayer temperature shall be controlled below 93 ℃, and overheating is not allowed. (Especially for welding of thin parts).
--The welding metal flows in a viscous manner, so it requires some welding torch operation that is usually necessary. Increasing the current will not significantly increase the fluidity of the metal in the molten pool.
--Oxyne flame welding and submerged arc welding are not recommended.
--Unpacked welding rods can be dried without drying. However, unused welding rods must be stored in the furnace with a temperature of 121 ℃ - 204 ℃.
--In gas shielded arc welding (tungsten or metal electrode), 100% argon shall be used for the root pass welding. In manual arc welding, the back of the root pass must be polished.
--For gas tungsten arc welding, it is recommended to use the sag characteristic arc welding power supply with high-frequency start and sag control. The welding torch with gas diffusion lens can provide the best gas protection.
--It is inappropriate to conduct post-weld stress relief treatment for Ni-Cr-Mo alloy at about 650 ℃. Generally, heat treatment is not required after welding, but if stress relief is required, it is recommended to conduct complete solution annealing at 1149 ℃ and then water quenching.
--If the oxidizing shielding gas is more than 1% in metal arc welding, it is recommended to polish the weld bead after each weld bead.
--It is recommended to use water-cooled nozzle for spray transfer and cooperative transfer of gas shielded metal arc welding (over 120A).
