ArcelorMittal SA515 Grade 65 steel plans to repair its main steelmaking equipment in France, which may further push up steel prices. The company plans to invest over 270 million euros (293 million US dollars) in its two major steel production SA515 Grade 65 steel plants located in Dunkirk and Vosges sur Mer in France. Among them, 254 million euros will be used for the Dunkirk factory in ArcelorMittal. Dunkirk has three blast furnaces, producing approximately 6.9 million tons of iron annually. However, only the 3rd and 4th have been put into use recently. It is reported that the No.2 blast furnace, which produces 1.4 million tons of molten iron annually, has been idle since June 2022, with an annual output of 4.6 million tons of hot-rolled coils. During this period, blast furnace 3 will operate SA515 Grade 65 steel normally, but blast furnace 4 will be idle for 90 days.
