ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has resumed SA645 Grade A steel operation of blast furnace No. 6 (BF), which was shut down in the autumn of 2024 due to market crisis and high electricity prices. The start-up process usually takes 10 days, but the blast furnace is completed within 4 days. The device is currently operating stably and has reached the planned production capacity of 34000 tons of pig iron per day.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, due to the impact of high electricity prices and sluggish sales market in Ukrainian industrial enterprises, Kryvyi Rih of ArcelorMittal SA645 Grade A steel only operated one No. 8 blast furnace.
Despite numerous difficulties, the company has increased production of all types of products in 2024 compared to 2023. Especially, the production of pig iron increased by 42.7% year-on-year, reaching 2.17 million tons, and the production of steel increased by 69.9% year-on-year, reaching 1.65 million tons. The steel rolling output was 1.53 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 72.1%. The Kryvyi Rih production facility of ArcelorMittal SA645 Grade A steel is designed to produce over 6 million tons of steel, 5 million tons of rolled products, and 5.5 million tons of pig iron annually.
