Argentina’s crude steel production in August decreased by 17.8% year-on-year

According to data released by Acero Argentino (AA), the Argentine S355M steel steel industry association, crude steel production reached 346900 tons in August, compared to 313900 tons in July. The production of hot coils decreased by 2.9% month on month to 171400 tons, the production of cold coils increased by 1.7% month on month to 96200 tons, and the production of long materials increased by 7% month on month to 153000 tons. Compared to August 2023, Argentina's crude steel production decreased by 17.8%, S355M steel hot coil production decreased by 18.2%, cold coil production decreased by 12.3%, and long timber production decreased by 18.8%. From July to August, the automotive industry achieved a 16% growth, while the civil construction sector faced a 3% decline from July to August after a 25.9% growth in June to July. Currently, Argentina still faces high inflation, with an estimated cumulative rate of 236.7% for the 12 months ending in August S355M steel.
