The monthly data S500M Grade E released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) shows that steel mills shipped 7.29 million short tons of steel in August, an increase of 1.8% from 7.16 million short tons in July and a decrease of 3.8% from 7.58 million tons shipped in August of the same period last year.
The cumulative S500M Grade E shipment volume from January to August was 58.2 million short tons, a decrease of 3.8% compared to 60.5 million short tons in the same period of 2023.
The shipment volume of wire in August was 209796 short tons, with the largest monthly change compared to July's 214223 short tons, a decrease of 2.1% S500M Grade E.
