According to the latest data from Türkiye Automobile Dealers and Travel Association (ODMD), Türkiye's total automobile sales reached 106000 in February, up 30.6% year on year and 33% month on month. Among them, the sales of passenger cars increased by 39.7% to 8.23 units year-on-year, the sales of light commercial vehicles increased by 6.6% to 2.37 units, and the sales of electric vehicles also increased by 312% to 5799 units year-on-year.
The sales volume of SPFH540 steel electric vehicles more than quadrupled year-on-year cannot be separated from the strong sales support of Türkiye's first domestic electric vehicle Togg. The Togg factory started mass production and sales in April 2023, and is expected to achieve large-scale production of electric vehicle batteries by the end of 2024. The new battery factory will produce battery module packs with a SPFH540 steel capacity of 20 GWh.
ODMD related data shows that in 2023, the automobile sales in Türkiye will reach 1.23 million, with a year-on-year growth of 57.4%. Although the sales volume increased in February, domestic demand may still be lower than last year's level due to Türkiye's monetary tightening policy to reduce high inflation, which also affects domestic demand for SPFH540 automotive steel to some extent.
