Brazil approves anti-dumping duty on tin plated and chrome plated coils from China

On September 23, 2024, the Foreign S500Q Grade D steel Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (Minist é riodo Desenvolcimento, Ind ú stria, Com é rcio e Servi ç os/Secretaria de Com é rcio Exterior) issued Announcement No. 49 of 2024, which applies to any alloy or non alloy tin plated chrome plated coil (Portuguese: folhas met á licas de a ç o carbono, ligado ou n ã o ligado) originating from China with a thickness of less than 0.5 millimeters and a width, A preliminary positive anti-dumping determination has been made for the product in question (0.5mm), and it is recommended to impose temporary anti-dumping duties on the Chinese products involved for no more than 6 months, with a tax amount of 251.97-341.28 US dollars per ton. The dumping investigation period of the case is from July 2022 to June 2023, and the injury investigation period is from July 2018 to June 2023.

Recently, the minutes of a S500Q Grade D steel meeting of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce for Foreign Trade (GECEX) showed that the Brazilian government has approved temporary anti-dumping measures to restrict the import of alloy or non alloy tin plated chrome plated coils from China. Anti dumping tariffs will take effect after being published in the official gazette, usually within one week after the decision is made. The involved varieties include 7210.12.00, 7210.50.00, 7212.10.00, and 7212.50.90. The proposal requires anti-dumping duties of up to 6 months, ranging from $257.97 to $341.28 per ton, on alloy or non alloy tin plated and chrome plated coils imported from various steel enterprises in China S500Q Grade D steel
