Brazil imposes temporary anti-dumping duty on tin plated and chrome plated coils from China

On October 21, 2024, the Management Executive Committee of the Brazilian S690Q Grade E steel Foreign Trade Commission (GECEX) issued Resolution No. 649 of 2024, deciding to impose restrictions on any alloy or non alloy tin plated chrome plated coil (Portuguese: folhas met á licas de a ç o carbono, ligado ou n ã o ligado) originating from China with a width and thickness less than 0.5 millimeters, A temporary anti-dumping S690Q Grade E steel duty of 251.97-341.28 US dollars per ton shall be imposed for a period not exceeding 6 months (see attached table for details of the duty) on the product of de qualquer largura comespessura inferior a 0.5 mm. The tax numbers of the products involved in the case in Nanjing are 7210.12.00, 7210.50.00, 7212.10.00, and 7212.50.90. This resolution shall come into effect from the date of its publication.

On March 1, 2024, the Foreign S690Q Grade E steel Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (Minist é rio do Desenvolvimento, Ind ú stria, Com é rcio e Servi ç os/Secretaria de Com é rcio Exterior) issued Announcement No. 9 of 2024, stating that in response to an application submitted by Companhia Sider ú rgica Nacional, a domestic enterprise in Brazil on October 6, 2023, an anti-dumping investigation will be initiated against any width and thickness less than 0.5 millimeters originating in China. On September 23, 2024, the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services issued Announcement No. 49 of 2024, making a positive preliminary ruling on the case.
