Mainly due to the current poor demand in the United States, the export prices of Brazilian slabs, the largest supplier of slabs to the United States, have shown a downward trend. The current export price of Brazilian slabs is between $550-560 per ton FOB, a decrease of $10 per ton on a weekly basis. According to market reactions, the current US hot coil CR690T/550Y-DP steel prices have basically hit bottom and there is little room for further decline ($693/ton). The strong prices of iron ore and coal coke are the main factors supporting the price decline at present CR690T/550Y-DP steel.
