Brazil’s allocation quota for imported steel in 2025 may be exhausted in January

According to data from the Brazilian 18MnMo4-5 steel foreign trade agency SECEX, the total quota available from October 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025 is 529113 tons. For imports within the quota, the average import tax rate is 12.5%. Imported goods exceeding the limit will be subject to a 25% tariff. Overall, as of November 25th, 74% of the import quota has been utilized. Among them, 6% are thick rolled plates (with a quota of 7964 tons); Hot rolled plate -36% (54030 tons); Cold rolled flat products -66% (100559); Galvanized 18MnMo4-5 steel sheet products -90% (156709); Wire -41% (52976).
