Brazil’s crude steel production in December increased by 1.8% year-on-year

According to data from the Brazilian PT490QL2 steel Iron and Steel Association (LABR), Brazil's crude steel production reached 2.573 million tons in December 2024, an increase of 1.8% from December 2023. Among them, the steel rolling production remained stable at 1.653 million tons, the flat material production decreased by 7.2% to 1.008 million tons, and the long material production increased by 13.7% to 645000 tons. Domestic sales of steel products increased by 3.1% to 1.483 million tons, while apparent PT490QL2 steel consumption of steel products decreased by 7.0% to 1.809 million tons, while exports decreased by 10.4% to 753000 tons and imports decreased by 36.5% to 324000 tons.

Compared to the total amount in 2024, crude steel production increased by 5.3% to 3.3742 million tons, domestic sales increased by 8.3% to 21.2 million tons, exports decreased by 18.1% to 9.6 million tons, imports increased by 18.2% to 5.9 million tons, and apparent steel consumption increased by 8.3% to 25.693 million PT490QL2 steel tons
