Chile Revises Preliminary Decision on Anti Dumping of Chinese Steel Bars

On April 20, 2024, the Chilean Ministry of Finance announced in the official gazette that the temporary anti-dumping duty on steel bars used to manufacture grinding balls with a diameter less than 4 inches, originating from China S40C steel, will be changed from 10.3% to 19.8% to 24.9%. This means that a temporary anti-dumping duty of 24.9% will be imposed on all Chinese enterprises involved in the case. The measures will take effect from March 27, 2024, and will be valid for no more than 6 months, and will terminate from the date of the final measures. This case involves products under Chilean tax number 7228.3000.

On December 9, 2023, Chile initiated an anti-dumping investigation on steel bars originally produced in China for S40C steel manufacturing grinding balls with a diameter less than 4 inches. On March 27, 2024, Chile made a preliminary ruling on the case, ruling that Baowu JFE Special Steel Co., Ltd. had a temporary anti-dumping duty of 10.4%, S40C steel Daye Special Steel Co., Ltd. had a temporary anti-dumping duty of 10.3%, Dongbei Special Steel Group Co., Ltd. had a temporary anti-dumping duty of 19.8%, and other Chinese enterprises involved in the case had a temporary anti-dumping duty of 19.8%.
