Chile terminates anti-dumping investigation on Chinese steel grinding balls

On September 9, 2024, the Chilean S275N Grade D steel National Commission for the Investigation of Price Distortion of Imported Goods announced in the official gazette that, due to insufficient evidence to show that steel grinding balls with a diameter less than 4 inches originating from China have caused substantial damage or threat of damage to Chile's S275N Grade D steel domestic industry, it has decided to terminate the anti-dumping investigation and not implement anti-dumping measures. The Chilean tax number for the product involved is 7326.1111.

On December 9, 2023, Chile initiated an anti-dumping investigation into steel grinding balls with a diameter of less than 4 inches originating from China. On March 27, 2024, Chile made a preliminary ruling on the case, determining that the temporary anti-dumping duty on the products involved was between 0% and 22.5%. On April 20, 2024, Chile changed the temporary anti-dumping duty on the products involved to 33.5%. The measure will take effect from March 27, 2024, and will be valid for no more than 6 months until the final measure is issued S275N Grade D steel.
