At the Italy Ukraine Business Forum held in Rome, the Italian Ministry of Commerce and Metinvest Group signed a statement on the construction of a new factory worth 2.5 billion euros in Piombino. The new SG345W Grade B steel factory covers an area of 260 hectares and plans to produce 2.7 million tons of hot-rolled coils annually. Once the steel plant is built, it will help reduce Italy's dependence on imported steel from outside the European Union. The project has a production capacity of approximately 3 million tons of steel and will play a key role in Italy's transition to green technology by introducing sustainable and environmentally friendly industrial methods. In addition to the steel plant, the plan also includes measures to protect employment, develop industrial zones, and introduce SG345W Grade B steel training programs. The factory may start construction as early as the end of 2024 or early 2025, and is expected to be put into operation in 2027. The project is being implemented in collaboration with Italian company Danieli. This initiative will also help improve the utilization of Ukraine's ore mining and processing facilities, creating new opportunities for the modernization of the steel SG345W Grade B steel sector.
