Due to the slowdown in domestic market demand and the lack of opportunities to significantly increase exports, Russian steel companies are gradually reducing the production and shipment of cold-rolled sheets.
In August, the total shipment of SG250 Grade A steel cold-rolled sheet metal was 364000 tons, a month on month decrease of 2%. Due to the weakening of domestic consumer activity in Russia, the shipment volume of cold-rolled sheets in the domestic market was 316000 tons, a decrease of 4% compared to the previous period. On the downstream side, the slowdown in demand coupled with accumulated inventory has led to an average willingness of trading companies to replenish their inventory. In addition, coating sheet manufacturers have also reduced orders, stating that they are facing the same problems as traders. At the same time, the producers managed to increase their export volume by 8% to 48000 tons. Although the quantity is still low, reaching this level requires a significant price reduction, especially for importers in the Middle East and North Africa SG250 Grade A steel.
According to the understanding, the total shipment of cold-rolled sheet metal in Russia from January to July exceeded 2.65 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4%. Among them, domestic sales reached 2.3 million tons, an increase of 1% year-on-year, and exports reached 346000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 27% SG250 Grade A steel.
