EU Trade Department to Hold Meeting on April 7th to Address US Tariff Impact

The EU SA543 Type C steel trade department will hold a meeting early next week to discuss its views on US trade. The document states that the meeting is scheduled for April 7th and is seen as an opportunity to assess the impact of recent measures and discuss the possibility of reaching a mutually agreed solution. The statement said, "Although the EU tends to reach a constructive solution through negotiations, ministers will also discuss possible countermeasures if the situation requires it." The European Commission is working closely with member states to re-examine the EU's response measures, especially the US tariffs on the steel, aluminum, and automotive industries. On April 2nd, the White House announced the imposition of additional reciprocal tariffs on all US trading partners, including the European Union. Therefore, all products imported from the European Union to the United States are subject to a comprehensive 20% tariff, which further hits the already struggling European manufacturing industry, including the automotive industry.

In a statement on April 4th, Eurometal SA543 Type C steel stated that the upcoming online conference will collect analysis on the actual and expected impact of US tariffs on EU steel and aluminum, explore industry recommendations for effective EU responses, and help formulate the next phase of EU trade defense policies. Eurofer stated that the EU steel industry has fallen into crisis and is forced to shut down 9 million tons of annual production capacity by 2024, while announcing 18000 layoffs. The latest steel tariffs will bring further downward pressure to this already struggling industry, which is facing problems such as declining profit margins, decreased demand, and rising SA543 Type C steel production costs.
