On Friday, October 25th, the European Commission began registering all hot-rolled coils imported from Egypt, India, Japan, and Vietnam, in preparation for the imposition of anti-dumping duties.
It is reported that in 2023, the European Union imported 9.22 million tons of hot coils. Among them, Egypt provided 753115 tons, India provided 1.17 million tons, Japan provided 1.09 million tons, and Vietnam provided 1.16 million tons. A total of 4.19 million tons, accounting for 45% of the total EU hot coil imports in 2023. At present, Europe has not proposed anti-dumping review against Türkiye, but its price has no competitive advantage in the European market. The price of hot coils shipped from Türkiye to Italy is 580-590 euros/ton CFR (627-637 U.S. dollars), and the price of Asian resources is 550-570 euros/ton CFR (594 U.S. dollars/ton -615 U.S. dollars/ton). If Europe begins to impose anti-dumping duties, it will be very helpful to boost local prices.
