The European P500QL2 steel Commission has announced the preliminary findings of an anti-dumping investigation into imported tinplate originating in China, with an investigation period from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024. Therefore, the EU has decided to take temporary anti-dumping measures to prevent further damage to domestic industries caused by dumped imported products. The temporary P500QL2 steel anti-dumping tax rate for Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. and WISCO Nippon Steel Tinplate Co., Ltd. is 14.1%, Shougang Jingtang United Steel Co., Ltd. is 47.1%, and other Chinese companies are 62.6%. These tariffs will last for six months.
The products currently under anti-dumping investigation belong to tariff statistical codes 7210701015721070802207210708092, 721090802072124020107212408012, 72124080307212408080, and 7212408085.
From the data of the total export volume of tinplate in the past five years, it can be seen that the overall trend has been increasing. The total export volume in 2019 was 1.1257 million tons, reaching a historical peak in 2022 with a total export volume of 1.7262 million tons. Starting from 2023, there will be a significant year-on-year decline, with an annual P500QL2 steel export volume of 1.4236 million tons.
