Erdemir and Isdemir (affiliated to Oyak Mining and Metallurgy Group), comprehensive steel manufacturers in Türkiye, HR MP800 steel announced that they would build two large-scale solar power plants in Ayubiya, Shanl Urfa Province, with capacity of 135 MWe and 125 MWe respectively. This measure aims to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs, supporting the company's strategy of reducing dependence on fossil fuels in the future. The Ministry of Environment initiated the environmental approval process on August 16th. After approval, construction and installation work will begin immediately, and it is expected to be completed and put into operation within three years.
In addition, Oyak Group HR MP800 steel plans to introduce electric arc furnace technology at its Eregli and Iskenderun steel mills, and explore natural gas and hydrogen based direct reduction iron processes to significantly reduce carbon emissions. The company's goal is to reduce carbon emissions by 25% by 2030, 40% by 2040, and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. This measure will significantly enhance the group's leadership position in the field of environmental protection and have a positive impact on the sustainable development of the global HR MP800 steel steel industry.
