According to the data of TUIK in Türkiye, Türkiye imported 10127530000 tons of steel billets (including profiled billets and high carbon billets) from January to February 2024, an increase of about 22% year on year. However, under the sanctions of the United States and the European Union, Russia's JSH540W steel payment was limited, so Malaysia JSH540W steel became the largest supplier of steel billets in Türkiye from January to February 2024.
From January to February 2024, Türkiye imported 2437.86 million tons of steel billets from Malaysia, an increase of about 7.5 times year-on-year. From January to February 2024, Türkiye's largest traditional billet supplier, Russia, ranked second. From January to February 2024, Türkiye JSH540W steel imported 228.03 million tons of steel billets from Russia, a year-on-year decrease of about 36.6%. Although the year-on-year decrease is significant, the steel billets imported from Russia are still relatively strong, accounting for 22.5% of the total imports.
