Indian JSP’s First Launch of Hot Strip Rolling Mill, Market Share May Rise

Jindal Steel Power Ltd (JSP) announced last Friday (January 19, 2024) that its state-of-the-art hot strip rolling mill has been officially put into use. The equipment is located at the Angur Steel Plant in the state of Orissa, India, with an annual production capacity of 6 million tons. The equipment completed production debugging in just 29 months and started production on January 10th. The first batch of plate S450GD+AZ steel coils was shipped on January 15th. The new product will meet the needs of multiple industries such as automotive, construction, petroleum, downstream cold rolled galvanizing, and color coating. The launch of this rolling mill marks JSP's further entry into the sheet metal market and is expected to increase its market share.

JSP is the third largest private steel producer in India S450GD+AZ steel and the only private enterprise in India to produce steel rails, with a steel production capacity of 9.6 million tons. The Angur Comprehensive Steel Plant under its umbrella is the core of the company's industrial ecosystem, with an annual production capacity of 6 million tons and equipped with the most advanced production equipment in India. At present, the steel plant is committed to doubling its annual production capacity to 12 million tons and building the world's largest single integrated steel plant by 2030 S450GD+AZ steel.
