On January 10, 2024, Lakshmi Mittal, Chairman of ArcelorMittal, delivered a speech at the 2024 Gujarat Global Vitality Summit (VGGS), announcing that the company would build the world's largest single steel plant by 2029, located in Hajira, Gujarat DX52D+AZ steel.
It is reported that Hajila Steel Plant will complete the first phase of construction in 2026 and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2029 to successfully complete the second phase. After expansion, Hajira DX52D+AZ steel Steel Plant will become the world's largest single steel plant with an annual production capacity of nearly 24 million tons. The first phase of the project was launched in 2021 and is currently in the construction phase. It is expected to be put into production in 2026 DX52D+AZ steel.
