In July 2024, India's HR DP800 steel steel exports fell to an 8-month low, a year-on-year decrease of 15%, to around 350000 tons, compared to 410000 tons in June. The EU remains India's main destination at 1400 tons, but it has also shown a downward trend since February. In July, the export volume to Vietnam exceeded 8000 tons, while the export HR DP800 steel volume to the Middle East was only 17000 tons. Since May this year, India has not been favored by the traditional markets of Vietnam and the Middle East, as China has a strong advantage in low-priced resources. For example, China's offer to Vietnam in July was as low as $527/ton CNF HCMC, and further declined in August. Since January this year, these quotations have dropped significantly by $82 per ton. China's quotation for the Middle East has dropped from $619/ton at the beginning of this year to $550/ton, a decrease HR DP800 steel of nearly $70.
