Iran and Türkiye P275NH steel signed a memorandum of understanding during the meeting of the Joint Economic Commission held in Tehran on December 12, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade. Türkiye's Trade Minister Ermer Borat said that the meeting laid the most important legal and institutional foundation for the economic relations between the two countries, and set a trade target of 30 billion dollars for the next few years.
Borat pointed out that the renewal of the natural gas agreement will inject strong impetus into this goal. He also mentioned that the preferential trade agreement signed in 2015 is an important milestone in the development of trade P275NH steel between the two countries. We will encourage private enterprises from both countries to cooperate in the fields of trade and investment. We hope that our cooperation in the energy sector can also reach a higher level
This memorandum of understanding covers energy and natural gas trade, as well as trade and investment in multiple fields such as steel, agriculture, and tourism.
According to the data of Türkiye P275NH steel Statistics Bureau, Türkiye exports long materials such as rebar to Iran, and imports semi-finished steel products. From January to October 2024, Türkiye's rebar export to Iran will reach 68300 tons, an increase of 24% year on year; Iran's semi-finished steel exports to Türkiye fell by 30% to 78000 tons.
