Iran's main P355NL2 steel flat steel producer, Mubarak Steel Company (MSC), has set an annual sales target and plans to sell 8.6 million tons of semi-finished and flat products between March 21, 2024 and March 20, 2025. Among them, 7.4 million tons are supplied to domestic customers and 1.2 million tons are used for export. Although some goals have been achieved as planned, this year's performance expectations are lower than last year due to internal challenges such as power and natural gas supply disruptions.
As of the first 8 months of the P355NL2 steel current Persian calendar year (March 21 to November 21, 2024), MSC has shipped nearly 5.9 million tons of products to domestic and foreign customers, of which 62% are hot-rolled flat steel, 19% are cold-rolled and coated steel, and the rest are steel billets. In terms of transportation, 11% is completed by railway, while the rest relies on road transportation. To achieve the annual transportation target, the company arranges 1030 trucks and 50 train carriages to ship products daily.
In addition, MSC is accelerating the development of high value-added products to meet the needs of the automotive industry. At present, the company is developing 12 new steel grades, of which 4 have been successfully introduced to the market in the first half of the year. Some products are undergoing final testing at customer sites, and some have been approved and entered the commercial production stage.
It is reported that MSC shipped a total of 8.8 million tons of P355NL2 steel products in the previous fiscal year, of which 1.4 million tons were exported. Faced with the current market and internal and external pressures, the company will continue to deepen its value chain to maintain its competitiveness in the steel industry.
