China Import and Export:
This week, the export prices of Chinese square billets DX52D+Z275 steel remained unchanged compared to last week. It is understood that the quotation for some steel mills this week is about 505-510 US dollars per ton CFR Southeast Asia for billets with a specification of 3SP, while the quotation for billets with a specification of 5SP is about 510-515 US dollars per ton CFR, with no change in the week on month ratio. This week, a steel factory in the north quoted a square billet with a specification of Q235 150 * 150mm at approximately 502 US dollars per ton FOB, an increase of 2 US dollars per ton compared to last week. There is room for negotiation, and no transaction has been heard yet.
In the slab market, some European buyers have inquired at a price of $530 per ton of CFR, a decrease of approximately $10 per ton compared to last week.
In terms of import, the mainstream quotation of Russian 3sp billet is about 500-505 US dollars/ton CFR Taiwan, China, China, which is flat on a weekly basis.
Southeast Asia:
This week, Indonesia actively imported Chinese square billet resources, and a batch of 10000 tons of square billet orders with a specification of 5sp were sold this week, with a price of approximately 510-515 US dollars per ton of CFR. At present, the Indonesian specification for 5sp billets is quoted at approximately $518 per ton DX52D+Z275 steel CFR Manila, with a weekly increase of $3 per ton.
We have learned that there is a batch of orders with a transaction price of $510/ton CFR Manila, but the remaining buyers are unwilling to accept this price. Last week, the transaction price for 5sp square billets in Russia was around $490 per ton CFR Southeast Asia, and some buyers are currently using this price as a reference standard.
This week, Philippine buyers inquired about the import price of square billet resources with a specification of 3SP at approximately $470 per ton of CFR, and about $480-490 per ton of CFR for square billet resources with a specification of 5SP in Manila. In the local market, a square billet from a medium frequency furnace DX52D+Z275 steel factory in the Philippines was heard to have been sold at a price of $465 per ton EXW, a decrease of $10 per ton compared to the previous week.
We have noticed that this week, the quotation for Indonesian Dexin square billets remains around 515-520 US dollars per ton of CFR, and the quotation has not been updated yet. It is reported that Dexin has recently achieved good transactions in the local and export markets, with a total transaction volume of approximately 80000 tons. Therefore, Dexin is unwilling to sell new orders at a reduced price in the near future.
It is reported that for Southeast Asian buyers, the current import price of square billets is equivalent to the price after the conversion of scrap steel, so some electric arc furnace factories prefer to import scrap steel to control costs. At present, the mainstream export price of wire rods is about 505 US dollars per ton CFR Southeast Asia, and some steel mills choose to import wire rods to replace some of the steel billet demand.
