According to the latest data from the Iranian S275J0 steel Steel Producers Association (ISPA), Iran's imports of finished materials for the first four months of the year (March 21, 2024 to July 20, 2024) were 4.62 million tons, an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year.
Iran's natural gas supply is insufficient, and in addition to direct reduction of iron and steel billets, the flat steel market is also affected by this, leading to a decrease S275J0 steel in domestic supply and a shift towards the import market.
The import volume of long materials increased by 7% year-on-year, reaching 310000 tons, and the import volume of sheet metal increased by 10% year-on-year, reaching 4.31 million tons.
The total import volume of semi-finished steel products was 1.24 million tons, a year-on-year increase of about 38% S275J0 steel.
