Isdemir of Türkiye is about to be put into production. Oyak Group, the largest blast furnace in China, accelerates the layout of green and intelligent production lines

Isdemir, a large integrated steel A533 Type B steel producer in Türkiye, will officially put its new blast furnace project into operation after completing the final technical preparation. When completed, the blast furnace will become the single blast furnace with the largest capacity in Türkiye by far, with an annual capacity of 2.8 million tons of liquid steel, marking an important step for Oyak Mining&Metallurgy Group in improving manufacturing energy efficiency and promoting green metallurgy.

The project aims to enhance Isdemir's overall level in raw material utilization efficiency, energy management, and environmental standards, which will help further strengthen its comprehensive competitiveness in the domestic and international steel markets. Oyak Group's industrial deployment on the path of sustainable development is also advancing simultaneously. The group plans to put into operation the fourth coke oven unit at its other steel plant Erdemir in 2025, with a designed production capacity of 800000 tons per year. It will be equipped with a higher level of A533 Type B steel automation system, which is expected to improve the self-sufficiency of coke and effectively reduce dependence on external coke imports, enhancing cost controllability.

At present, Erdemir and Isdemir under Oyak Group focus on different product directions. Among them, Erdemir focuses on hot-rolled, cold-rolled, galvanized coils, and tinplate varieties, while Isdemir mainly produces billets, wires, and hot-rolled sheets. The combined annual crude steel production capacity of the two factories reaches 9.1 million tons.

While promoting production capacity projects such as blast furnaces and coke ovens, Oyak Group is also simultaneously advancing its low-carbon transformation strategy. Oyak Group is actively planning and constructing electric arc furnace projects to respond to the global decarbonization trend, reduce overall carbon emissions levels, and gradually build a more environmentally friendly and efficient steel A533 Type B steel production system.
