Italian rebar manufacturers are attempting to adjust the domestic benchmark ex factory DC04EK steel price from 340-370 euros/ton to 400 euros/ton, the second price adjustment since last month. In May 2024, the prices of rebar in most parts of the world showed a downward trend. The main factors behind this are weak demand and sufficient supply. In Europe DC04EK steel, the price of rebar fluctuated in different directions in May. Especially in Nordic countries, prices fell by 10 euros/ton, or 1.5%, to 610-640 euros/ton between May 3rd and 24th. In Italy, factory delivery prices have increased by 3.5%, or 20 euros/ton, to 580-590 euros/ton. Meanwhile, in the Italian market, due to the resumption of construction activities after the holidays in late April and early May, prices have slightly boosted. Meanwhile, local steel companies have achieved significant results in balancing supply and demand by reducing DC04EK steel production.
