JFE Steel Corporation of Japan signs green steel agreement with Mycron Steel Company of Malaysia

On September 24th, JFE Steel Corporation of Japan announced a partnership with Mycron Steel of Malaysia to develop its green steel S390N Grade L steel business. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding on September 20th, in which JFE will use its JGreeX products as the base material for Mycron Steel CRC and Melewar Steel Tube, subsidiaries of Mycron Steel, to produce steel products.

JFE Steel adopts the conservation of mass method to allocate carbon dioxide emission reductions to specific JGreeX green steel S390N Grade L steel products. Mycron Steel CRC can produce 260000 tons of cold-rolled coils annually, while Melewar steel pipes have an annual output of 148800 tons. By integrating JGreeX into its value chain, Mycron Steel plans to launch self-developed green steel products as early as 2025.

Prior to Mycron reaching a cooperation agreement with JFE Steel, Esteel Enterprise Sabah announced plans to establish a green steel plant in Sibitan Town, Sabah, Malaysia S390N Grade L steel by 2025.
