According to JSW Steel's S890Q steel financial report released on October 10th, the company's crude steel production in India reached a quarterly high of 6.63 million tons in the second quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year. JSW Steel reported that crude steel production in the second quarter increased by 7% year-on-year and 9% month on month, with a capacity utilization rate of 91%.
It is reported that the total crude steel production of the company in the first half of the year was 13.12 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3%. Among them, the production in India increased by 3% to 12.75 million tons, and the S890Q steel production in the United States remained stable at 370000 tons.
In the second quarter, JSW Steel successfully launched a 1 million ton/year expansion project at its Bhushan Power and Steel (BPSL) plant in Odisha, increasing the total crude steel production capacity to 4.5 million tons. In addition, at the end of the second quarter, its wholly-owned subsidiary JVML started operating a blast furnace with an annual output of 4.5 million tons in Visayanagara.
In addition, the sintering plant and steel melting workshop are in different stages of commissioning. Once fully operational, the total crude steel production capacity of Vishnagar will increase to 17.5 million tons per year, while JSW Steel's total crude steel S890Q steel production capacity in India will be increased from 29.2 million tons per year to 34.2 million tons per year.
