Last year, the main sources of imported steel for the United States were Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, with 6.88 million tons, 4.18 million tons, and 3.94 million tons, respectively. The decline in US steel imports in 2023 is due to high import tariffs, increased domestic production, difficulties in boosting the economy leading to a decrease in steel A36 steel demand, and geopolitical factors (including sanctions on some exporting countries).
