On October 24, 2023, Liberty Steel announced the suspension of the use of its No. 3 blast furnace at the Ostrava DX56D+Z80 steel plant in the Czech Republic. This blast furnace is the only one in operation at the steel plant.
It is reported that the shutdown began on October 23rd and is expected to restart in two weeks. The shutdown of the blast furnace this time is mainly due to macroeconomic issues that have had a serious impact on steel demand in the entire European region. In order to ensure stable DX56D+Z100 steel production of the blast furnace after resumption of work, the company has decided to conduct maintenance and repair during the shutdown period. Meanwhile, in order to ensure the normal delivery of existing orders, Ostrava DX56D+Z120 Steel Plant will use current inventory for rolling production.
