Libyan Steel Company’s Cold Rolled Plate and Coil Rolling Mill Put into Debugging

Share:

Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO) signed a contract with Partner Teknik of Türkiye to put its cold rolling coil mill into commissioning. The device is expected to start operating in 2025.

LISCO's cold-rolled coil mill is located at the Misrata HR MP1000 steel factory, with an annual production capacity of 200000 tons, and is currently 90% completed. Although there was an intention to cooperate with an Italian company, an agreement could not be reached due to the huge funding requirements. The project will complete the installation of electrical and mechanical equipment, conduct cold and hot tests, and organize trial production and commercial production. The entire project is expected to be completed within seven months, followed by an additional four months of operational support. After the investment is completed, LISCO's cold-rolled coil production capacity will be increased to 350000 tons. The company plans to produce rolls with a thickness of 0.2 to 3 millimeters to meet the HR MP1000 steel demands of domestic and international markets.

According to Mysteel, LISCO produces 1.7 million tons of steel annually, including 1 million tons of steel sections and 611000 tons of steel plates. The company also has a rebar rolling mill with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons, two bar production lines, two wire production lines with an annual production capacity of 200000 tons, and one hot-rolled coil production line with an annual HR MP1000 steel production capacity of 580000 tons.
