Low demand in Southeast Asian long rod market, Vietnamese steel mills selling at low prices under pressure

Share:

Recently, the demand for long materials in Southeast Asia has been consistently low, with fewer buyer inquiries. We learned that last week there was a deal to export Malaysian SS540 steel rebar resources to Singapore at a price of $540-545 per ton of DAP. At present, the quotation for rebar in Singapore remains stable at around $535-550 per ton DAP Singapore.

At present, although China's futures have slightly weakened, the export price remains stable at around $565 per ton CFR Singapore SS540 steel, and there have been no reports of transactions yet.

In contrast, the export price of Vietnamese rebar is under significant pressure. We understand that the current demand for rebar in Vietnam is sluggish, and some steel mills are selling at prices below cost. Some Vietnamese steel mills are quoting FOB prices of 530-535 US dollars per ton (calculated). Vietnam's current quotation for Cambodia is stable, with a specification of SD390 rebar SS540 steel priced at approximately 550-575 USD/ton FOB (actual weight).
