According to the data of Türkiye S355W Grade C steel Statistics Bureau (TUIK), Türkiye's imports of semi-finished steel products from Malaysia from January to September tripled year on year, reaching 1.34 million tons. This growth trend is mainly due to a significant decrease in the import of semi-finished steel products from traditional supplier Russia.
The specific monthly data shows that although Russia's steel imports decreased by 1 million tons to 1.43 million tons due to the difficulties in payment caused by sanctions, Türkiye's total imports of semi-finished steel products from January to September remained stable at 4.7 million tons.
In addition, Türkiye has become the third largest S355W Grade C steel supplier to Türkiye. Turkey's imports from Indonesia reached 501000 tons, a fourfold increase year on year; The import volume from Saudi Arabia was 258000 tons, a significant increase of four times. Algeria's export volume to Türkiye was 253000 tons, down 33% year on year.
Other major suppliers include Oman (155500 tons), Vietnam (145000 tons), and Ukraine (142000 tons). The amount of steel exported from these countries to Türkiye also fluctuated to varying degrees.
From January to September, the import market of semi-finished steel S355W Grade C steel products in Türkiye changed significantly, especially the import volume from Malaysia increased significantly, making up for the decline in imports from Russia. In addition, emerging supply countries such as Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have seen significant growth in steel exports, while overall imports remain stable.
