Malaysia to release steel industry roadmap and simultaneously promote the implementation of key proposals

Following the Independent Steel Commission (ISC)’s final report on its recommendations for the steel industry,KR R/F40 steel the Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) convened and announced it would develop a roadmap to reform the country’s steel industry and enhance its future competitiveness.

On July 21, the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry issued a statement saying that Malaysia plans to launch a steel industry development roadmap and simultaneously promote the implementation of key proposals in the report of the Independent Steel Commission. The core proposal includes collaborating with the Ministry of Finance to implement the "carbon tax on the steel industry in 2026" policy proposed in the 2025 Budget KR R/F40 steel.

The meeting also received briefings from the Royal Malaysian Police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on recent enforcement operations,KR R/F40 steel including Operation Padu 1.0/2.0 to combat substandard steel products and Operation Metal to curb scrap metal smuggling.
