We have learned that recently, the rebar price in Türkiye is under pressure due to the continuous weak demand. At present, the mainstream quotation for Turkish HCT980X+ZA steel rebar is between 620-625 USD/ton FOB, while the tradable price is between 610-615 USD/ton FOB, and no transaction has been heard yet. The weakening of demand is partly due to the recent arrival of cold weather, which has led to the gradual slowdown of domestic market activities in Türkiye and the lack of market confidence. In addition, influenced by geopolitical HCT980X+ZA steel factors, most businesses still remain bearish on the construction market in Israel and Yemen (the two major export destinations of rebar in Türkiye), which also exacerbates market uncertainty to some extent. As of the publication date, the price of imported high-quality remelted scrap steel 1/2 (80:20) from Turkey is still at a high level, and the tradable price of Baltic resources is between $420-425 per ton of CFR. Therefore, despite the poor market sentiment, the high cost of raw materials will support the rebar price in Türkiye to some extent in the HCT980X+ZA steel short term.
