Mexican Thread Prices Drop Nearly 21% Since January

Due to factors such as weak economic growth, reduced investment in public infrastructure, and strikes in the past two months, the price of Mexican rebar priced in Mexican pesos has dropped by nearly 21% since January. In recent days, the S450J0 steel price of Mexican grade 42 rebar (including shipping to Monterrey) has been quoted at 14300 Mexican pesos ($742) per ton, compared to approximately 18000 pesos per ton in January. Due to the slowdown in infrastructure projects and investment in housing and commercial buildings, especially in the mainstream S450J0 steel market of threaded steel in the central region of the country, the price of threaded steel in Mexico has fallen. According to the latest statistics, Mexico's economic growth in the second quarter was almost 0%. The country's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by only 0.2% month on month and only 1% year-on-year.

It is reported that the main steel bar manufacturers in Mexico are ArcelorMittal, Deacero, Gerdau Corsa, Grupo Acerero, Grupo Simec, Suaero, Ternium Mexico, and Tyasa S450J0 steel.
