We have learned that the estimated freight cost has recently increased by $5/ton to $25/ton compared to the previous month, resulting in a decrease of $5/ton for Russian hot-rolled coils to Turkey's FOB price of $595-605/ton.
Türkiye's buyers have been cautious due to the decline in Chinese HCT780X+ZA steel prices, credit restrictions caused by high inflation, and concerns about the municipal elections scheduled for the end of March. The overall sales activity in Turkey is slow, and no new transactions have been heard yet. It is understood that the feasible market level of buyers in Türkiye and Egypt HCT780X+ZA steel is not higher than 590-595 dollars/ton FOB.
In terms of slab production, the decrease in material supply, coupled with a slowdown in the semi-finished steel market, especially before the Lunar New Year holiday, has led to a sluggish Chinese market. Various factors have led to poor sentiment in the recent Russian slab export market.
It is reported that currently sanctioned HCT780X+ZA steel suppliers are quoting 525-535 USD/ton FOB, while unlicensed suppliers are quoting 560-565 USD/ton FOB. As of the time of publication, no new transaction information has been heard yet.
