Newco Steel announced a $35/ton decrease in weekly hot-rolled coil prices to $680/ton (approximately $750/ton), the SPFC340H steel lowest level since April 24th this year when prices fell below $700/ton. Last week, the price of North American hot coils fell below $700 per short ton (approximately $772 per ton), reaching a new low and continuing to decline. Previously, according to World Steel Dynamics, Cleveland Cliffs sold $720 per short ton (approximately $794 per ton) to its customers for hot coil orders to be delivered in August. Since reaching its peak in mid to late April, the market SPFC340H steel price of hot coils has fallen by about 17%.
