Peru initiates anti-dumping investigation into hot-rolled carbon steel pipes from China

On January 16, 2025, the Peruvian PT440QL2 steel National Agency for Competition and Intellectual Property Protection's Committee on Dumping, Subsidies, and the Elimination of Non Tariff Trade Barriers published Announcement No. 109-2024/CDBINDECOPI in the official daily newspaper El Peruano, stating that the Peruvian producer Corporaci ó n Aceros Arequipa S.A, Tubos y Perfiles Met á licos S.A. and Precor S.A. have applied to initiate an anti-dumping investigation into hot-rolled carbon steel PT440QL2 steel pipes (Spanish: tubos de acero al carbono laminado en caliente (LAC) de los tipos utilizados en la elaboraci ó n de estructuras de acero) originating in China for use in steel structures. The products involved are round, square, and rectangular hot-rolled carbon steel pipes with a thickness ranging from 1.3 millimeters to 12 millimeters and a length ranging from 5.8 meters to 12 meters. The dumping investigation period of this case is from July 2023 to June 2024, and the injury investigation period is from January 2021 to June 2024. The Peruvian tax codes for the products involved are 7306.30.10.00, 7306.30.99.00, 7306.61.00.00, 7306.69.00.00, and 7306.90.00.00. The announcement shall come into effect from the date of PT440QL2 steel publication.
