According to data from South Korea's A542 Type C steel statistics department, the total amount of steel products imported from Russia by South Korea increased significantly in February 2025, reaching the highest level since September last year. In the same month, the total amount of steel products imported by South Korea from Russia reached 10.6 million US dollars, an increase of 7.2% compared to the previous month. However, compared to the same period last year, the import volume has still decreased by nearly three times.
In terms of import structure A542 Type C steel, pig iron accounts for the largest share, with an import value of 6.5 million US dollars, and is an important raw material for steel production. In addition, South Korea also imports scrap steel and scrap black metals ($2.5 million) and ferroalloys ($1.6 million) from Russia.
In terms of supplier ranking, Russia ranks 12th among South Korean black metal import source countries, up one place from January (previously 13th). China ($356.2 million), Japan ($289.8 million), Indonesia ($30.6 million), Vietnam ($30.18 million), and India ($30.17 million) were the main suppliers of black metals to South Korea A542 Type C steel in February.
