In May 2024, Russia's steel production decreased by 2% year-on-year to 6.2 million tons, marking the fifth consecutive month of decline.
Compared with the same period in 2023, in May 2024, pig iron A1008 Grade 80(550) steel production decreased by 7% to 4.4 million tons; finished steel production decreased by 2% to 5.5 million tons; coke A1008 Grade 80(550) steel production decreased by 7% to 2 million tons; and iron ore production decreased by 0.3% to 9.3 million tons. In contrast, pipe production increased slightly by 1% to 1.1 million tons.
In the first five months of 2024, pig iron production decreased by 5% year-on-year to 21.6 million tons, while steel production decreased by 3% to 30.7 million tons A1008 Grade 80(550) steel.
