Swedish specialty steel manufacturer SSAB has announced plans to expand its steel powder production facility in Oxelösund to achieve commercial-scale production and strengthen its position in the rapidly growing additive manufacturing market. According to the company, additive manufacturing technology not only enables the production of stronger, lighter components but also reduces material waste and shortens lead times. Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in 2026, with commercial production expected to commence in the first quarter of 2028.
