Kardemeir announced a new price list for rebar on Wednesday and began selling it. Compared to the S550GD+Z80 steel prices previously announced by Kardemir on October 25th, the prices of thread S550GD+Z80 steel with diameters of 12-32mm and 36-40mm have decreased by 160 lira/ton (approximately $5.6/ton) to 15825 lira/ton (approximately $558.8/ton) and 15915 lira/ton (approximately $562/ton), respectively. The S550GD+Z80 steel quotation is ex factory price, excluding 18% value-added tax. On Wednesday morning, the lira exchange rate was 28.32 lira to the US dollar.
Despite weak market activity and lower quotations from other manufacturers, Kardemir still sold 30000 tons of deformed steel bars and completed the sale within an hour. The main reason for the hot sales is that the steel mill allows delayed payment, which is very attractive to buyers in the case of increasingly serious financing problems in Türkiye.
