On February 13, 2025, the South African A285 Grade C steel International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) (on behalf of the Southern African Union - SACU, SACU includes five countries: South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini) issued a notice to make a preliminary affirmative anti-dumping determination on the flat rolled products of iron, non alloy steel or other alloy steel imported from the Chinese A285 Grade C steel Mainland, Japan and Taiwan, China, China. However, the preliminary decision does not apply a provisional decision to the products involved in the case in the above countries and regions Anti dumping measures. The products involved are flat rolled products of iron, non alloy steel or other alloy steel with a width of 600 millimeters or more, regardless of whether they are coiled or not, and have not been further processed after hot rolling, including pickling and oiling, hot rolling, uncoated, coated or coated (except for stainless steel and grain oriented silicon electrical steel). Products under South African tax codes 7208.10, 7208.25, 7208.26, 7208.27, 7208.36, 7208.37, 7208.38, 7208.39, 7208.51, 7208.52, 7225.30, and 7225.40.
On September 20, 2024, the South African International Trade Administration Commission issued a notice to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on flat rolled products of iron, non alloy steel or other alloy steel imported from Chinese Mainland, Japan A285 Grade C steel and Taiwan, China, China, in response to the application of ArcelorMittal South Africa. The dumping investigation period of the case is from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, and the injury investigation period is from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2024.
