Southeast Asian countries’annual imports of long timber increase by over 10% year-on-year

According to data from the Southeast Asian HDT580F steel Iron and Steel Association (SEAISI), due to the recovery of demand in the construction industry, the six ASEAN countries imported approximately 11.8 million tons in 2023, with an annual growth rate of 10.4%. Among these countries, Singapore has the highest growth rate, reaching 34% to approximately 2.6 million tons. The import volume of long timber in Thailand HDT580F steel is increasing by 8.7% annually, reaching around 2.3 million tons. The Philippines imported about 2 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.8%. Indonesia imported approximately 1.8 million tons (a year-on-year increase of 11.4%), while Malaysia HDT580F steel saw a significant year-on-year increase of 22.5% to around 1.8 million tons.
