Stable prices of European domestic and imported hot coils, weak demand growth

Share:

European hot coil prices remained stable this week, mainly due to weak demand and insufficient bullish momentum. Despite steel SM490YB steel mills attempting to raise prices, the market has not responded, mainly due to excessive market supply. At present, the actual trading price of Nordic heat coils is expected to be 630 euros/ton (equivalent to 684 US dollars) -650 euros/ton EXW. The price of heat coils delivered from June to July is 640-670 euros/ton EXW (694 US dollars/ton -726 US dollars/ton), which is basically stable on a week on week basis, with an increase of about 11 euros/ton EXW compared to that month.

The ex factory SM490YB steel price of Italian hot coils in July was 630-640 euros/ton EXW, a decrease of about 20 euros/ton EXW from last month, and has basically bottomed out. Obviously, it is not feasible for European steel mills to attempt to raise the price to 740 euros/ton EXW (800 US dollars/ton) in the early stage.

In terms of import, Vietnam SM490YB steel delivered hot coils at 580-590 euros/ton CFR (629 dollars/ton -640 dollars/ton), 590-600 euros/ton CFR (640-650 dollars/ton) from India, and 600-620 euros/ton CFR (650-672 dollars/ton CFR) from Taiwan, China, Japan and South Korea in July.
